    Job Description

    Clinician

    Purpose:

    Clinicians are vital members of the AVIV team and represent the philosophy and brand of the clinic to clients and constituents. In order to effectively work in this unique therapeutic medium, Clinicians must be highly organized, flexible, and open to ongoing feedback and training.

    Qualifications:

    ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY

    • Masters degree in Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy or other related field.

    • Passion for Animal Assisted Therapy and Eco-therapy and a desire to improve one’s skills in these areas.

    • Must be willing to submit to a background check and successfully pass said background check.

    • Must love animals, nature, and possess a strong willingness to work outdoors in diverse weather conditions year-round.

    • Ability to manage schedule independently and possess a high level of personal and professional organizational skills.

    • General dissatisfaction with the status- quo of mental health treatment and a passion to make systemic change.

    HIGHLY DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

    • Experience working with diverse populations across the lifespan and competency with LGBTQ+ populations.

    • Ability to commit to consistent schedule as agreed on by the clinician and the clinic.

    • Willingness to travel up to one week at a time for clinical trainings.

    • Superior communication skills and an ability to advocate for one’s self within the clinic to ensure their needs are heard.

    QUALIFICATIONS THAT ARE NICE TO HAVE

    • Certification in ARCH or any other Animal Assisted Psychotherapy

    • Experience training animals- including dogs and including informal experience

    • Foreign language skills, especially Spanish and/ or Portuguese

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Maintain professional licensure and adhere to the ethical standards of the clinician’s relevant professional organization (ACA, AMHCA, APA, MaMHCA, NASW, etc.…) If not yet licensed, must work actively toward licensure.

    • Maintain and provide proof of malpractice insurance.

    • Abide by the policies and procedures in the AVIV Employee Handbook.

    • Attend weekly team meetings and regularly scheduled group supervision meetings.

    • Participate in formal AAPT training within nine months of starting employment.

    • Write effective and relevant treatment plans, which utilize Animal Assisted Therapy.

    • Diagnose mental health disorders, create relevant and effective treatment plans, and execute said plans through individual, group, and family therapy sessions at a frequency agreed upon by the clinician and the clinic.

    • Maintain accurate, honest, and professional notes and treatment plans through the clinic’s EHR and agree to regular documentation audits.

    • Accurately collect payments and fees from clients at the time of service.

    • Provide other tasks at the farm as needed. For example, animal feeding/ maintenance, gardening, and other tasks.

    • Position starts as Fee For Service until a full-time case load is achieved. Full-time is considered an average weekly session count of 29 sessions as averaged over four weeks.

    Benefits:

    All staff that regularly conduct 29 therapeutic sessions per week are considered full-time, any capacity less than 29 clients is considered part-time. The following benefits are available to staff based on employment status:

    Full Time

    • Health, Dental, and Vision insurance benefits after 90 days of employment and a full-time case load

    • 2 Weeks paid time off.

    • Full funding for AAPT training.

    Part Time

    • Half tuition funding for AAPT (unless otherwise stated at time of hire).

    The posted salary range for this position is $55,000- $85,000 depending on experience and licensure. Additional training and experience will factor into final pay agreement.

    Terms of Employment:

    Employment is considered at-will and AVIV reserves the right to terminate any employee for any legal reason. New employees will begin with a 90 probation period at an introductory pay rate, after which the clinician and the clinic can agree to further employment at a higher rate of pay if appropriate.

    Job Description

    Remote Clinician

    Purpose:

    Clinicians are vital members of the AVIV team and represent the philosophy and brand of the clinic to clients and constituents. In order to effectively work in this unique therapeutic medium, Clinicians must be highly organized, flexible, and open to ongoing feedback and training.

    This unique role is fully remote and requires the applicant to see clients in multiple states (where licensed) via HIPAA compliant server. The applicant does not have to reside locally but will work in local times. Applicant must also attend weekly staff meetings virtually and other trainings. This role is not a part of AVIV’s Animal Assisted Psychotherapy program, rather this is a traditional counseling approach conducted virtually.

    Qualifications:

    ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY

    • Independent licensure to render clinical counseling services (LPC, LCSW, LMHC, LICSW, LMFT, Licensed Psychiatrist, APRN, or other relevant licensure)

    o Is not licensed in Massachusetts, must be eligible to become licensed in Massachusetts.

    • Must be willing to submit to a background check and successfully pass said background check.
